It's New Year's Eve, and you have a list of things in your head that you want to improve upon. The way I see it, everyone has "doable" items and reachable items on their list. But do we strive for what's doable or the reachable?

Here are some to-dos that are more realistic for the average college student, paired with my heavily sarcastic thoughts of them. I mean dream on, but let's start small.

1. Getting out of bed before noon on a weekend.

Sleep is REALLY nice on a weekend. But don't you feel like you wasted the day? No? Okay, that's cool too.

2. Waking up in time for that 8 a.m. class. Every time.

Resist the urge to hit snooze...more than once...or not.

3. Not procrastinating on at least one assignment.

Project is assigned: "Ah, that's a long way off."

Professor reminds class about project: "Hmm, maybe I should start that."

Professor says it's due by midnight that day: "OH $#*! THAT'S TODAY!"

4. Make a budget based on your income...and stick with it.

Okay, if I don't eat out this week I can pay my credit card bill. *Gets email coupon for 4.99 Fill Your Cup FroYo*. I'll try again next week.

5. Stop going to Chipotle/ Pizza Hut/any other fast food place three times a week.

I may or may not have been guilty of this...Ya know, from time to time. Cooking is effort, and the caf smells weird.

6. Go to the Gym.

I know bottles of alcohol can be heavy, but that doesn't count.

7. Expand your social life.

Netflix is a social life...kinda. My bed is my friend.

8. Make a loan payment BEFORE the interest kicks in.

I don't know man, I just spent a lot of money at Michael's on crafts I will never make...

9. Maintain a well-balanced diet.

So...get lettuce on my burrito bowl. Got it.

10. Balance time for homework and socializing.

What's that? Take my homework out to the bar? Nah, that won't work for my dancing plans.

11. Following through on a New Year's Resolution...

Well, it's November...better luck next year!

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
