Alcohol comes in all shapes, sizes, colors and consistencies. There are bubbles, intensities and flavors which all play a part in the tastiness of the drink. College can often be looked at the same way. Depending on how far along in the adventure of college one may be can determine which alcoholic beverage they can relate to most. Without further ado, here is college boiled down to some dranks.

Freshman Year: Jungle Juice

Let’s be honest, everyone’s freshman year is a giant shambly mess of trying to balance independence, rigorous studies and, of course, partying. The beloved drink of frat brothers everywhere is pretty much the same. Jungle Juice is essentially a mix of fruit punch and various types of hard liquor that may or may not taste decent and may or may not cause you to end your night hugging the toilet. Pretty much an accurate description of freshman year.

Sophomore Year: Beer

Sophomore year is the year everyone gets their shambly mess from the previous year figured out. There is more of a drive to get good grades as well as a better balance between the party and the study grind. Beer is the epitome of chill when it comes to alcohol. A cold brew is good to sip on and slow to cause a buzz - balanced like sophomores are trying to be. Also, I feel like, after a year of drinking Jungle Juice, a less aggressive alcohol is absolutely necessary.

Junior Year: Mixed Drinks

Most people turn of legal drinking age at some point during their junior year. This is the “coming-of-age” year where we have to actually get our shenanigans together because we’re halfway to being real-world adults. Mixed drinks are the “adult” beverages. They’re what you order from a bartender and sip on to almost drink for taste but still get you feeling like you’re ready to hit the dance floor. Like junior year, a lot more adult, still a little partay.

Senior Year: Champagne

College is hard work so reaching the final year is cause for celebration. What better representation of officially becoming an adult with a college degree than that crisp, bubbly wine. Popping the cork on a bottle of champagne is both exciting and a little nerve-racking since that wild cork could fly anywhere. Sounds a lot like graduating from college…*hyperventilation*

College is an adventure, drinking is definitely, more-often-than-not an adventure and each year that we participate in these two aspects of life do we learn something new. Each allows for growth and development from lessons learned so that we may eventually be successful adults. So hold your drinks high, keep your grades higher and continue learning. Cheers!

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
