It's no secret there is a campus-wide Gossip Girl epidemic. “Basic white girls,” as they are commonly known, can’t get enough; they just can’t. No one really understands why Gossip Girl is such a big deal, though, so before you continue calling us basic, it's important I name some reasons why Blair Waldorf and Serena Van Der Woodsen might not be as basic as you think.
Blair and Serena have been to hell and back, and along the way, they have shared some unforgettable life advice with their avid viewers. Without further ado, here is your quick guide to attaining a view on life that will easily transform you into an It Girl.
“Tights are not pants.” You can try as hard as you want, but tights will never be accepted as a replacement for pants. Instead, put your energy into changing people’s viewpoint on what defines equality, that's an easier battle to fight.
“Have a little faith, and if that doesn’t work, have a lot of mimosas.” There is a plan set out for everyone, so don’t stress and just go with the flow. Everything will work itself out, but in the mean time, it wouldn’t hurt to drink mimosas and have brunch with your friends slash minions.
“If you really want something, you don’t stop for anyone or anything until you get it.” Determination is the key to success. If Blair doesn’t impress you as a person, she should definitely impress you as an entrepreneur and dictator. They call her “Queen B” for a reason.
“The most important parties to attend are the ones you’re not invited to.” Who doesn’t like a little drama every once in a while? Live life on the edge and show everyone why it’s not a party unless you’re there.
“Whoever said that money doesn’t buy happiness didn’t know where to shop.” Sure, life gets rough from time to time...but I would handle it a lot better in a pair of this season’s hottest Louis Vuittons.
“A wise woman once said that every morning when you wake up, you say a little prayer. After all, you never know what your day may hold.” Nothing in life is guaranteed. It doesn't hurt to ask for a little help and believe in something bigger than yourself.
“They’re all good men before something happens to them, S. Some of them stay good, no matter how they’re treated.” Be picky. Demand to be treated with respect and do not settle for someone who does not deserve you. Don’t make excuses for him if he is not treating you up to your standards.
“You can’t make people love you, but you can make them fear you.” Not everyone will like you and automatically become your friend. However, you shouldn’t allow that to get to you. You don’t need them to fear you but be the kind of person that everyone wants to love.
XOXO, Gossip Girl.
