Progressing through the endless maze that we call life has, as implied, many twists, turns, roadblocks, and dead ends. It's important to stay true to yourself, and to who you really are during rough times.
We are constantly striving for better opportunities, for success, for what we love and that makes us happy. Oftentimes however, we trade what we love for other things – notably money. Which is why we seek employment in career fields that will help us to achieve our materialistic desires. What we lack though, is truly loving what we do. So, when life takes you for a ride, we are also burdened by our daily activities that do not necessarily make us happy.
We do not live with enough passion.
How many people can honestly say, "I love my job" and mean it? Not love as in loving your pay check, or your schedule, or any such factor, but honestly love what you do. Not many.
Everyone has something they love to do, and we do not incorporate that passion into our lives. No matter what you love to do, you should make it part of your life even if it's challenging.
That's why I write.
I love to write. I need to work and pay bills and go about my life just like everyone else, but as I'm getting older I'm realizing that while it's nice to have things and be stable, I have to be happy and follow my dreams too. I want to be able to be a writer for a popular newspaper, or author a bestseller, or become a sports broadcaster. I'm dedicated towards incorporating this aspect of my life into my career, so that I can actually love what I do. I have these dreams and I have to follow them, because it's what I want. I do not want to settle.
I write because that's who I am. I like to give my opinion on issues. I enjoy creating a story and telling it from my perspective. Being able to have the opportunity to be a published writer gives me a platform to reach people, and tell my story my way. Sometimes I can write about things going on in the world, or other times I can simply describe a situation I am in. But either way, I am able to be heard.
And I do not necessarily mean by an audience. Of course I love when people read what I write, but I like to write for myself. My form of expression comes this way, and even if not a single person read what I authored, I would still be happy because I am doing what I want to do.
People ask me all the time why I write. Some assume it's for a class in school, but it's not. Writing, for me, is more than a mundane assignment. I don't feel pressure from deadlines or stressed by exams. It's not something I just do to get done and then forget about it. I do it because I love it. To me it's all about a story, and I just want to write my own.
