Chapter One – The Dreams
The days are short and the time just passes on by. My name is Nayomi Faith Misiki, but most people just call me Faith for short. I’m new to this town. I moved from Long Beach, California where the sun is always shining bright, hot, and blazing. The people in California would be lucky to get some rain. Here in Chicago, Illinois; where there is more wind than anything, it rains.
Maybe it snows, too. I’ve never really seen snow in person before, I mean, on T.V. I have, but I couldn’t touch it. I could not smash it into a smooth, round ball or shape it into a snowman. On T.V., snow is as white as a marshmallow. Let’s just hope the T.V. was right.
Some people used to tell me that moving can be a pain and that making friends can be as hard as cement when it’s dry. I’m going to be in 11th grade. Nice, a junior at a new school with no friends…how hard can it be, right? I am going to be living with my aunt for a while as my parents are traveling. With a life like that, I am always moving schools and am never really there long enough to make any friends. I thought that it was time for a change, so I decided to stay with my aunt and try to live a normal life for once. I just hope it turns out the way I dreamed it would.
I just arrived at my aunt’s two-story baby blue home. Now, the fun part, to unload and unpack.
“It’s been so long since you’ve been here, Faith.” My aunt Jayzmen said with a worried look on her face.
“I know. Not much here looks different, though. I mean, the nice fresh green grass and the three beautiful white pine trees. It’s all just the same from the last time I was here,” I chuckle.
After that, it became a bit awkward. My aunt showed me to my room and my own bathroom. Awesome! My own bathroom!
“Your room is the biggest in the house. I got rid of that twin and bought you a queen. Hope you like blue.” Jayzmen said calmly.
“Yeah, blue is great. Thanks.” We stood there silently. The good thing about Aunt Jayzmen is that she doesn’t hover.
The day grew dark, mysterious and haunting. That’s one thing about the sun setting, the dark. I am completely horrified by the dark and what lurks within it. So, to take my mind off it, I tried to think of how my first day would go. Tomorrow will be my first day at Dangel High School. To be honest, I’m scared; terrified even. Just thinking about P.E. makes my bones shake and quiver; as if I’m being electrocuted.
“Well, I might as well get a good night’s sleep if I don’t want to be late,” I grumbled to myself. I couldn’t fall asleep for the life of me, but I finally passed out around 12:30.
I don’t know if I was asleep or awake, but whatever one it was, I was dreaming or picturing something pretty damn amazing. At the same time, it was freaking me out due to how real it felt. I saw such an amazing guy. I do not know his name, but most people seemed to be calling him Skyler. Pretty name. He was tall, gorgeous and looked athletic. His eyes were a crimson red with detailed specks of purple in them.
“Beautiful,” I whisper.
It looked to me that he is a college student or high school, but that would be pushing it. This dream is amazing…or it was I should say. My alarm went off at 5:30 AM and I just laid there in my soft bed thinking about how my day was going to go or how I wanted it to go. Yes, I was upset that I woke up from my captivating dream, but somehow, I knew I would dream of him again tonight. Dream of Skyler; the outrageously gorgeous man in my dream.
