I started the second semester of my freshman year by starting all over. Well kind of, I moved dorms to live with my best friend, who I had met at college and two girls that I barely knew. I would never have thought that this would be one of my favorite decisions of my freshman year.
These girls have had my back throughout this whole semester and I honestly have no idea how I would have made it through without them. Sometimes when we are feeling really lazy, we all just lay around and watch TV but we all also motivate each other to get homework and projects done. We help keep each other accountable with studying as well as grades.
There was also never a boring moment with us either. Someone was always down to go to Noodles and Co. or to get coffee. Even if we were all just sitting in our dorm watching TV there would be multiple times of laughing so hard that we cried or just enjoying each other's company in general. We had even started a quote wall with all of our favorite sayings and memories.
We have also all been a shoulder to cry on. College can be tough and sometimes you just need to have someone to rant or cry to. Luckily, my roommates have been that for me as I for them. We've been there for each other through so many ups and downs even though we have known each other for such a short time. Without each other's support, I don't know if any of us would have made it through this semester.
When the semester gets too stressful we have done things like shopping days, face mask nights, or even just driving out of our college town for a few hours. Even if just one of us is having a stressful week, we can always find one of us available to get out of the dorms for a bit and do something fun.
To any high school senior, getting a roommate may seem like it will be the worst part of college, but it's really what you make of it. I hope that you find roommates as great as mine and that you're able to help each other through the tough transition of college. I am happy to say that my roommates have for sure been one of the best parts of my first year here at college. They have helped make this transition so much better than it would have been on my own and I think everyone deserves that.
