Let's be honest, turning in your bathing suit for a backpack is difficult no matter how much you like school. Nothing can truly prepare you for the tests, projects, early wake up calls, and all-nighters you will inevitably pull.
However, there are always things that can go wrong, people you see and don't want to, and professors that make the first day worse than it needs to be.
The following is a list of things that can (and have) gone wrong on the first day of classes.
1. You find out the guy you're talking to has a girlfriend.
2. Said guy's (you used to be talking to) best friend is in your class.
3. The girl you hate sits next to you in the class you didn't really want to take.
4. Your professor's first words are: "if you're early, you're on time. If you're on time, you're late. And if you're late, you're forgotten."
5. You look at the syllabus and see that there are five group projects.
6. Your syllabus is twelve pages long.
7. You run into your ex.
8. Everyone in the class already knows each other.
9. You try to make a friend in said class but the person literally does not answer when you ask them their name.
10. Your professor says there is no extra credit offered.
11. You find out attendance is mandatory.
12. You spill coffee on your white shirt and still have two classes to go to.
13. You contemplate dropping out.
14. You see your ex. Again.
15. You realize that this year might not really be your comeback year.
16. You hope next year will be better.
17. Or even tomorrow.
18. You get home without any desire to return for day 2.
Like I said, first days of school can be difficult. Sometimes you just gotta roll with the punches and hope that day two is better. But remember, it can always be worse. So get a big cup of coffee, put on your cutest shirt, and keep your head high. It's going to be a long semester.
