Don't be defined by your box

There Is A Whole World Right Outside Your Door

We love our box, because our box is generally a controlled environment. We get to choose who we let in our box, how we decorate our box, and how we feel in our box. Everything is up to you in your box. But no matter what, our box will never be that big. Everyone's box is a little different, but every single one has a distinct feature: a door. You can lock it, barricade it, or you can open it. And here is the real surprise. You can choose to leave your box. You can walk right out that door with only yourself.

When you walk out of your box, you may try to carry some of the things you had inside. You can try to carry a sense of security, your sense of comfort, the things that define you, your job, your achievements, your burdens. However, carrying around all of these things is hard. You could have all of those things in your box, tucked away nice and neat, but outside things are different. And slowly, you are going to have to start leaving those things behind on your journey through this great world. Because they are making your sluggish, unobservant, and exhausted.

There are so many wonderful things in the world. So many wonderful experiences and with those comes new knowledge. How can you pick up these little pieces if your hands are full with the weights of your doubts and insecurities. The special thing about the new things the world is going to give you, is that they are weightless. But you have to reach out your hand and accept what is offered to you. You can't do that if your hands are full.

Your box is your self-inflicted confinement. You will always fit in your box if you never leave, because inside you will never grow. Outside in the world, you have so much space. You can be more you than you even thought possible. You are boundless. The only reason you perceive blocks in your path is because you give so much weight to your fears. Fears that you are smart enough, that you don't have enough money, that you are pretty enough. But none of that matters. The things of this world are only limits if you allow them to be.

You have a mind and a soul, and that is all you need. So take yourself to places you have never been. Talk to people who you thought you would never talk to. Throw yourself into new situations that are going to test you and challenge you. You don't want to be the same person your whole life. Change every single day. See things you have never seen, and don't be afraid to push yourself to be the best human you can possibly be. Don't waste your life, because you are special and lucky to have the opportunities you do. So go forward, out of your box. There is a whole world right outside your door.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
