Why A Working Friend Is The Best Friend

There are so many things that go into being a good friend, but one you may have never thought about is why having a job makes you a better friend. Yeah, when you have a job you have times that you can’t do anything and it sucks so much, BUT it makes the times you have together even better. There are tomes when I just wish that I didn't have to do anything besides go to school and spend time with my friends, but we all know that these days things aren’t that easy. Between rent and books alone, you are spending an arm and a leg and probably promising your first-born child to your professor because you didn’t read your syllabus that you signed the first week of classes, so here are some reasons you should find yourself a friend who has a job.

1. They will pick the bill up every now and again.

I mean who doesn’t like getting treated to dinner or the movies every now and again. I know I like getting treated, but what I love more than getting treated is treating people. I love being able to go out to eat with my friends and buy them food like it is so simple, but the joy it brings is tremendous. Like have you ever been treated to nuggets and fries and not been happy?

2. They can be spontaneous.

They may have a schedule that they have to stick to because things have to get done and get done by a certain time, but what’s good about that, is that there is always free time to be had. I know that I try and get as much done as possible because I want to have time to spend getting margs with my friends or going out on adventures and taking pictures in the city. Also since they have a job, they more than likely talk to a lot of people during the week so they get the ins on where to go and adventure.

3. They are totally fine staying in on the weekends.

If your working friends are anything like me, they won’t mind staying in on the weekends. It is one of the best treats to be able to sit on the couch, drink a glass of wine, and watch movies in your jammies after a week of classes and hours and hours of work. Sure going out every now and again to the bars is fun, but why spend all the money you have when you can just have a simple night in the comfort of your home.

4. They will be completely honest with you.

Let’s be real, they spend their entire week telling people lies, so they don’t get fired, the last thing that they want to do it continue lying when they aren’t working.

So, moral of the story, find yourself a friend who has a job because they are the best. You will honestly have more fun with them than you can imagine.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
