Work Out For Your Mind, Not Just Your Body

Forget the struggle and get lost in your workout.

There is something unexplainable when you workout. It's that moment when you are about to give up, but you feel this motivational boost and you decide to keep going. Whether it comes from yourself or others, it’s like a whisper in your ear and a push on your back that convinces you to move forward.

Well, that feeling is after you push through and no one and nothing can stop you. You just want to keep moving. This feeling is so strong, that at the end of the workout, all you feel is free and like the world has granted you a blank canvas of thoughts for that short time.

All that will run through your mind is self-pride and the overall positive sensation you get knowing beads of sweat are running all over your body. If this sounds gross...well then you just don’t get it.

If you haven’t tried working out for the mind and body, and instead have only focused on the physicalities, then I suggest you try it out without thinking of how it will shape you. Try on your next run, first run, weightlifting session, and or any other workout, to think less and focus on your surroundings. You can even bring a buddy and let your feelings out! It’s absolutely uplifting and great for stress.

Your mind is allowed to be free for those moments without any other worries. It’s great to get frustrations out and to process anything that may be bothering you! I'd also like to mention that it is one of the best times to listen to an entire album that you haven't listened to yet or are already absolutely obsessed with!

As someone who gets anxious very easily, I love to say that working out is free therapy (if you don’t pay for the gym). I’m more of an outdoors kinda gal. If you haven’t tried that, well I suggest you try that too! Nature brings about mundane experiences that cannot be found anywhere else.

Getting to my point, once you experience this and allow yourself to follow a routine, you'll start to think less about how it makes you look, and more on how it makes you feel (not that the physical aspect isn’t satisfying).

So get out there and show yourself how strong you can get for your body AND mind! Allow yourself to be free. Forget the struggle and get lost in your workout. You’ll be begging for more time to do so!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
