When it comes to transferring, many wonder if it's easy or hard. I can honestly say it's a bit of both. Deciding where to go is definitely the hard part. "Does this school have what I want?" "Am I just transferring here because it's convenient?" Sometimes, even the school we want to go to the most doesn't always fit what we need.
Once one has determined places they would like to go, I'd recommend applying to at least three schools, if not more. Sometimes only wishing doesn't guarantee entry. And yes, those application fees must be paid.
After getting the acceptance letters of the school one has applied to, it then becomes difficult again. This school is closer to the city, but this other school has more class options; the going back and forth can go on for awhile. I made a list of pros and cons for each school, and that helped with my final decision a great deal. I was able to see side-by-side what the good and bad things were about the schools I was looking at.
Another part of transferring is scholarships, and I feel that scholarships are a bit of a wild card. Even when one believes that they have figured out where they want to go, sometimes that $2,000 scholarship from another school looks too nice to say no to. What I discovered in my transfer journey was that when a school offers one money, they have a form that states that the scholarship that is offered will not change even if another school offers something higher. This was actually a nice discovery, and I was glad to know that the schools would keep the decision up to their transfer students as much as possible.
Then, one must simply respond with whether or not they are going to that school, and then from there, it is rather easy. Credits may be lost, and some classes may have to be repeated, but all in all, it isn't so bad.
