Football season at Ole Miss is certainly one of the best times of the year. Filled with its Trashcan Fridays, tailgating in the Grove, and exciting atmosphere on game days, the season is always something to look forward to each year. With football season having come to an end, there are several aspects of it that I will miss, but here are just a few that I will not.
1. Gameday Traffic
10/10 would not recommend driving in Oxford on game days unless it is absolutely necessary, because the traffic is a struggle.
2. 11 A.M. Games
It is perhaps one of the saddest moments to hear a game time announced for 11 a.m. Going to an 11 a.m. game will having you wishing they were all evening games.
3. Finding Gameday Outfits
It can be difficult to find the right outfit if you are like me and take the color rule seriously. You would think it would be easy to find a navy outfit for November in advance, but with the unpredictable Mississippi weather, there is no telling whether it will be 80 degrees or 30 during the time of the game. This often results in scrambling to the Square to find a last-minute outfit the day or two before.
4. Often Suffering in the Weather
Going along with my last point, Mississippi weather is often unpredictable. During games, you often find yourself often on the verge of a heat stroke as you sit in the unshaded student section or close to catching hypothermia, because they decided to have a powder blue game in late October.
5. The Square on Gameday
The Square is often busy, but on game days, it is exponentially worse. Trying to navigate the sidewalks around the masses of post-game crowds is not ideal, nor is attempting to find a parking space.
All things considered, while there are a few things I will not miss about football season, it is still one of my favorite parts of the year that I will be more than excited to see roll around again next fall!
