Women's suffrage can date back to 1848, and the next 50 years after that was how we got to where we are today. If you have seen "Ironed Jawed Angels" then you know the true blood, sweat, and tears that the women of the 1920's went through; and you haven't seen it and you aren't sure "your vote counts," then I encourage you to watch and learn before November 8th.
To the people who think this is just another "wave of feminism," you're wrong. This is history. This is what shapes our country today because women--human beings in America--can vote. Saying it is just over-exaggerated is outrageous. It's like saying our ancestors coming to America was unnecessary. That the women that took care of the entire house and children are lesser than that of a man who goes to work all day? Well I promise you women don't just sit on their butts all day. No, they cook and clean and make sure the kids (who are also yours) don't kill each other. So yes, women out of anyone in America deserve the right to vote.
And as women, we shouldn't just not vote. That just seems like a disgrace to the women (and men) that fought for us to have such a free right. This is what we have that lets the government hear our voice. And if you say, "Well my vote doesn't count," it does. Let's say the electoral college just decides to elect whomever they want, don't you think that with the system that is set up that the people would speak up? I know they would because I've seen America speak up, and it ain't pretty. Therefore your VOTE MATTERS.
Voting meant so much more to those women almost 100 years ago, and we as their ancestors should respect that. We should strive to remember that when we receive that "I voted" sticker.
Be a proud woman, and don't let anyone to tell you that feminism isn't "politically correct" or whether or not it should be a topic to bring up. Because it still is even in 2016, and we should change that. Start your first step with a vote.
