Throughout our lives, we are exposed to different types of people, places, interests, and experiences. Many of these will stick out in our minds for a prolonged period, while others are only meant to stick around for a minute.
I’ve experienced this firsthand, and it’s a very difficult thought to bear when you realize you're outgrowing something you once put all of your time and energy into.
Sometimes, if you’re lucky, these passions might bounce back to you out of the blue, which is an INCREDIBLE feeling.
It may take a month, a year, or a couple years. But no matter how long, nothing will beat the emotions you experience, while all the memories you once made begin to flood into your mind.
Recently, I’ve been fortunate enough to have one of my former interests brought back, one that I NEVER imagined would spark something inside of me ever again.
Especially since his interest was a major part of my early years of adolescence, and contains several memories that are near and dear to my heart.
It can be confusing, though. I assumed when this interest had diminished, it was God’s way of telling me that there were bigger and more important things headed my way.
Of course, there were many that came into my life, but almost three to four years later, my mind has decided to say “in with the old”.
The nostalgia has definitely hit me hard, in a very good way. For the past month, I’ve been able to live out memories of my early teenage years. Although very cringe-worthy at times, they’re still enjoyable to look back on.
I can also safely say I’ve learned that just because new life moments float my way, that doesn’t mean I have to get rid of what’s old.
There can always be room for all of your passions, if you’re willing to let it be that way.
