There is nothing better than being on break without any worries about classes and work. You are able to spend countless hours with your favorite people catching up on everything since the last time you saw them.

Being home is great because you are able to wake up whenever you want to without having to worry about going to class or practice. It is a time where you are able to relax and spend time catching up with friends and family. However, there are many things that you will miss when you come back to school.

1. Being able to sleep in

Being able to sleep in is so great because if you stay out late the night before there is no need to worry about having to get up at a certain time. It is also a time where a lot of people catch up on all the sleep they are deprived of because of all the nights staying up late and studying.

2. Seeing your childhood friends every day

Yes, in college you spend almost every waking hour with your friends; however, for break it is different. You are reunited with close friends and are able to catch up. Also, you are able to go on adventures and do what you always do with your friends whether that is spending a day at the mall shopping or staying up late watching Netflix.

3. Home-cooked meals

No shocker here but home-cooked meals are something that I miss a lot after a break. The food at college is average, however, nothing will ever beat my mother and father's homemade meal.

4. Being able to drive around

I know that you are allowed to have your car on campus as a freshman; however, most don't due to expenses. However, at home when you have your car you are able to drive here and there whenever you want.

5. Your own bed

There is no better feeling than hopping in your bed after a long day. However, it is even better when it is your bed at home is the one that you have had for years.

6. Family and friends

Being home is great because you are able to spend a whole bunch of time with family and friends. Break is a time to catch up with everyone.

7. Your dog/cat

Sorry but the reality is there is no animal to greet you when you have arrived home after a long day when you're at school.

8. Netflix

There is nothing better than sitting in bed all day watching a show or a bunch of movies on Netflix and not feeling guilty about it.

9. Your own personal space

Being home means you get your own room and don't have to share a room with someone. You get your own personal space.

10. The best places to eat

There is nothing worse than craving some good food from a place back home. Nothing like always going to Applebee's for half off apps or your favorite ice cream place.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
