Winter Break After Christmas Is Borderline TRASH

And I'm not even sorry to say it.

Okay, don't get me wrong here. I LOVE laying in my bed at home. I love sleeping in and I absolutely love having no obligations.

But, winter break after Christmas is borderline trash.

I said what I meant and I meant what I said. Winter break after Christmas is borderline trash.

Think about it, if you're lucky, you've been home a week or two already. Your friends are all home at this point and you've all had at least one get together. Only so much has happened in one semester, and if they're your good friends, you keep up with them pretty regularly anyway. You are used to not seeing these friends, and you can handle doing it again.

The anticipation of Christmas, for those who celebrate, is now over.

Sure, you can look forward to New Years, but wearing black tie attire does not even come close to the excitement surrounding Christmas. Don't hit me with the "New Year, New Me" stuff. You know the majority of resolutions are broken by January 3rd anyway.

Christmas also brought you a bunch of stuff, and you don't really have anywhere to put it, because you're already trying to figure out where this stuff is going to live in your dorm after you move back in.

All you're pretty much doing is waiting to move back in.

You can sit in your bed and binge watch Netflix all day, you can go to a job you picked up for a couple of weeks that you hate all day, you can go to a job you love for a couple of weeks, you can travel the world twice if you have the means to, but the result is the same. You're only waiting to go back to school.

There's nothing to do in your town, you're convinced.

If there is, you've done it or don't want to do it. You can only go see the same place so many times before it's just another place to you.

There's nothing wrong with a little anticipation. There's nothing wrong with wanting to go back to school. There is something wrong with having to wait an additional two and a half weeks (or longer!!) to do it.

The boredom will eat at you slowly.

It doesn't matter what you're doing or who you're doing it with, there's nothing that will really compare to being at school. And there's nothing wrong with that. College is fun.

Winter break is just too long.

You can only twiddle your thumbs for so long. No, I don't want the stress and the hard work that comes with a semester, but I certainly will take it over this torture.

And, let's be honest here, we all moved out for a reason. Moving back in with your family, even for a month, is not the most appealing.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
