We are all lucky to have someone who is there for us within a blink of an eye and is always wanting to know how we are doing. Although many people say that their best friend is someone they met during high school or in college, I met mine when I was born. We have the typical type of best friend relationship: we text each other quite often, we get jealous when the other is busy with another friend, and we fight over the little things that don’t matter. It just so happens that she is my grandma, and I love her even more because of that.

Your grandma is the woman who knows the ins and outs of relationships and is willing to spill the beans on how they actually work. She will be honest with you because she only wants the best for you. Your grandma tells you hilarious stories about her significant other and gives her strong opinion on the relationship you may currently be in. You may even tell her things that your parents don’t even know yet. It’s safe to say that she won’t be running around telling everyone your deepest secrets. Isn’t that what we all want in a friendship?

Whenever you get on social media, you are always looking at funny things to send her or tag her in. You know that you can always count on her to support you on the things that you post, especially the ones that have her in it. Her friends start to comment on all the pictures you have together, telling you how cute you both are. You’re proud to let the world know that she is your grandma, but also your best friend.

Let’s be honest, we all love the trips to go see the grandparents. Whenever you go into your grandma’s house, you feel as if you are at home again and never want to leave. You know where everything is placed in her kitchen because let’s be real, you eat a lot of her food when you are there. You don’t mind spending the time to make the occasional buckeye treats to share with the rest of your family. We all know that there’s nothing better than grandma making the occasional dessert when you are upset, or just because she loves you.

Thankfully, she is the person who you are excited to tell the good news to and willing to tell the bad news to. You instantly feel better when you are around her because of how confident she makes you feel. Although she knows that you’re not perfect and have some flaws, she is proud to call you her grandchild and spoil you whenever she can.

Even if she is your family and you have to give her some love, she is someone who genuinely wants to be your friend and give you advice. She will do anything to protect you from harm and to be there for you when you are upset. She is one of your number one fans and is going to be cheering you on until the end.
