Why You Should Work With Kids

If you have worked with kids, you know it's the best job ever. If you haven't, you're about to find out why it is.

I have worked at a day camp for six summers, working with both boys and girls and all different age groups.

Despite how different each summer is from the next, one thing remains constant; there is no job I would rather have. From hearing their favorite jokes to learning about their fears and everything in between, there is no debating that there isn't a more fun, engaging, or rewarding job out there. But, if you don't quite believe me, here are the big 5 reasons to me why working with kids is the best job ever:

1. It is the most rewarding job you can ever have.

Every day, you are making new memories that the kids are going to keep all their lives. They will remember their teachers, counselors, babysitters etc. when they look back on their childhood and you will be a part of them, having played a major role in making them so positive.

2. You become a role model for all the kids looking up to you.

If you remember back to when you were their age, all you wanted to do was be older. The kids you work with want to be just like you no matter what, and it feels great knowing you have younger people looking up to you.

3. It is amazing watching kids grow and learn right in front of you.

Whether they just learned a new skill right off the bat, or they finally mastered one that took them some practice, you get the pleasure to witness them achieving something.

4. The minds of children are incredibly creative and innovative.

it is so interesting to see what new ideas they come up with. To hear the stories they can make up on the spot, and to see their creativity come to life is one of the best parts of the job. You start to see the world through their eyes, and it brings you a new sense of youth.

5. Their energy is contagious.

As we get older, we get so exhausted so quick and are often turned off from the idea of exerting that little bit of energy we think we have. When you work with kids, especially little ones, their energy is infectious and you find yourself eager to share in their energetic ways.

If you have the opportunity to work with kids now or in the future, I strongly recommend doing so, because there is no other job that will bring as much joy, laughter, or reward than being around kids does.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
