Why You Should Take The Risk

We live in a time where planning is ingrained in our everyday lives. We literally plan everything we want to do because our time is so precious. But if our time was really just that precious, wouldn't we take the risk?

Why You Should Take The Risk

We know our time could be cut short at any moment, yet when it comes to making big changes in our lives, we procrastinate because we are scared to leave our comfort zones. I am here to tell you that you will not grow and you will not have extraordinary experiences if you stay in your cocoon forever. There is no better time than now.

Take the damn risk. Stop telling yourself there will be a better time to move out, buy a house, tell that person you love them, go back to school, get married, have kids, etc. Because there will always be something that could be more perfect or convenient, but that is not the way life works. You convince yourself that there is something you are waiting for, yet if you really think about it, you are actually wasting time thinking that you have time.

Quit being so scared of something not turning out perfect. It is better to not have shit turn out perfectly because that is how you learn and grow. When things don't always go the way you planned, that is when you can grow up and figure out how to handle the world. If everything goes smoothly and you never get thrown a curveball, you should be way more worried than if things were to fall apart.

Constantly being comfortable in every environment and endeavor you are a part of, is honestly worrisome. You need to break out of your shell and have raw experiences so that you can learn how the world works and how you want to contribute to it. If all you ever feel is comfort, then you will leave this world having learned nothing. You tell yourself you are afraid of something not turning out the way you want, yet you're willing to live your life confined by your own fears. That is a scary way to live.

Take the plunge, make a mistake, try something new, go somewhere you haven't been, or fight for something you actually believe in. I doubt you will walk away having learned nothing. It's riskier to live your live staying inside your comfort zone than stepping outside of it.

"The comfort zone is a psychological state in which one feels familiar, safe, at ease, and secure. You can never change your life until you step out of your comfort zone; that is where real change begins"

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
