Why You Should Take Life One Step At A Time

The other day I was sitting on my couch staring at my laptop screen and stressing out because life is about to throw a lot at me. I haven't started packing for college yet, move-in day is in less than a week, I have to say good bye to all the people I've spent the last four years with and, oh yeah, I had no clue what I was going to write about this week, knowing I would have to have something done early in the week because the later part would be occupied by preparing for my move.

I sat in that same spot all night worrying about what I would pack, how would I adjust to having a roommate, could I handle a college work load and all the other details of a college life, and then at 2 a.m., it hit me, like my best thoughts always do. I realized I can only do one thing at a time.

In life we always see people stress themselves out about everything that goes on in their lives and they are always worried about something down the line and not thinking about the now. looking at the big picture is always good, but you have to realize what the steps are to that goal no matter what that goal is. For example, I'm stressing out about what my college experience is going to be like and I haven't even packed a single thing yet.

A bigger example would be a player being drafted into the NFL. They have dreams of being a Hall of Famer and winning Super Bowls, but a lot of them do not realize what a long process it is going to be to get to that point. They have to go through training camp to even see if they can translate from college to the NFL. You pretty much want to avoid being a Jamarcus Russell, who is probably the biggest bust in NFL history. He was the number one overall pick in 2007 for the Oakland Raiders and he signed a six-year 68 million dollar contract. He was on top of the world and then he showed up to training camp overweight and it was pretty much down hill from there.

If you just jump into something blindly, most of the time it is not going to end up well, but if you sit down and look at what it takes to get there and approach it step by step good things will happen. You have to look at the big picture and just break it up into steps. You have to live life day by day.

Now that my article is done for the week maybe its time to start packing.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
