Why You Should Join Stephens College Odyssey
Odyssey

It was December 2015 when I first got a LinkedIn message from Alex Pisauro, an Assistant Managing Editor for Odyssey working up in New York City. We set up a time to chat, and before I knew it, I was filing paperwork to be the Editor in Chief of a brand new team of Odyssey at my small Midwest school, Stephens College. Soon, I was writing my first article. Since then, I have been so excited every time our group has grown. Stephens College is such a unique community in Odyssey because we are not only an all-women's college, but we have interesting majors. Our Dance and Theater programs are great as are our Fashion, Biology and all the rest

Odyssey allows you to get your voice heard. Whether you want to share funny thoughts and ideas, or want to be more serious, your voice is important. Not only that, but it also offers chances to win some money...and who doesn't love that?

But, it's the community that is my favorite. We're all bound together by the fact we're all writing an article (or two) a week. Yet, we're also bound together by the experiences that we're getting. We get to be in contact with managing editors in the New York office, and are always welcome to visit the office.

Odyssey opens doors for the future, as well as the present. From the fact that you are able to speak out, and have your voice heard, to the fact that you have internship opportunities. You create great contacts for your future, and you get to meet people in your community who also want to share their thoughts with their peers.

Working as a group to help build each other up is what Stephens is about. It's also what Odyssey is about. I feel so blessed to be part of the amazing group of women that I am a part of, and I can't wait to see it continue to grow.

To Request an Invite to the Stephens College Odyssey community, simply go to the Odyssey application page and select "Stephens College" as your community.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
