This spring break was my first college spring break. I have been waiting for spring break to see how different it was from the spring breaks in high school. As all my friends were booking their rooms at Gulf Shores or on the College Party Cruise, I decided to travel across the country to California. It was honestly one of the best decisions that I have made, and I can't wait to back there next spring break! Here are a few reasons why you should consider going to California for spring break.
1. The Food
Since California is such a diverse state, you get a really wide variety of food options. Whether you are getting Thai food in North Hollywood or Mexican food in Santa Monica, it is going to be amazing!
2. The Beaches
The beaches in California have so much life to them. You have the Venice boardwalk at Venice Beach were you can watch guys workout at Muscle Beach or listen to their many street performers that they have there. The Santa Monica Pier has great attractions, food, and you can ride the ferris wheel and see all of the beach. The water is cleaner, and you are guaranteed to see a dolphin swimming by.
3. The Weather
Living in the South and going to college in the South, I am very much accustomed to unpredictable weather patterns. However, over spring break, the weather was perfect. It was never cooler than 74 degrees, and the weather was consistent. The perfect weather made it great for beach trips and exploring.
4. The Culture
The culture is California is so diverse and heart-warming. You have Hollywood, which is always stirring with life, and then 10 minutes over you have tiny Korean and Japanese markets where you are opened to a whole new lifestyle. You can pull up to the side of the road and buy strawberries from farmers. In one week, I was shown so many different lifestyles and cultures that are making me so excited to go back.
5. The Attractions
One of the biggest advantages of going to California for spring break is that there are so many things for someone to do. You can walk down Hollywood and look at all the stars on Hollywood's Walk of Fame. You can go tour beautiful gardens and look at amazing art at the Getty Museum. You can go watch a pretty sick show at the Griffith Observatory. There is literally so much to do that you won't get bored.
