Graduation is coming up for many college students, and if you haven't already, it's really time to start digging in and looking for your first foray into your career. Perhaps you're considering sprucing up your resume, and it probably wouldn't hurt. Getting a job is all about how your market yourself. If you really want to stick out, it's about more than having a snazzy looking resume on paper. In today's technology age, employers are looking to see people who are with the times, and even ahed of the curve! That's why you need to be using LinkedIn.

1. It's an easy way to keep up with all of your connections.

Whether it's an acquaintance or a new colleague you just met, you can easily store all of your connections on LinkedIn to be used in a business context. Very handy, and a lot kore professional than Facebook!

2. You can find jobs in your area, as well as all across the country and the world.

Easy access to lots of listings in your field. Whether you're looking for something local or wanting to movie, LinkedIn can help you find a new job anywhere. A lot of times, you can even apply through the LinkedIn app!

3. You have access to helpful tips and information from companies and business professionals.

Whether you're looking for information in your field, tips on interviews, or ways to increase your productivity, your LinkedIn feed will have it all.

4. Employers can find you.

Because who isn't tired of always searching? Now, you can be searched for.

5. It's easy to update!

Just got a new job? Acquired a new skill? Started working a new volunteer experience? Awesome! Now you can update your information quickly on your phone or the nearest computer in minutes. They even have it all broken down for you to make it as straightforward and helpful as possible.

6. You may not always have your resume on hand, but you always have your phone.

Found yourself in a once in a lifetime opportunity and you need to sell yourself? Offer to show them your LinkedIn. It could be a game-changer.

7. It shows that you are familiar with available technology.

Because we all know it's crucial in all fields today. You've gotta keep up and stay relevant.

8. Employers see that you've gone the extra mile.

It is no longer impressive to have a paper resume; its the bare minimum. Show this job matters by demonstrating your willingness to go above and beyond. A little extra effort never hurts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.
