While most music fanatics don’t even bother to question if they’re going to attend a music festival or not, some people need a bit of convincing. For anybody that’s interested in the festival scene without having to devote an entire weekend to go, Vans Warped Tour is worth looking into. It’s the largest traveling music festival in the U.S. and is honestly my personal favorite. While Warped might not be the most glamorous event to attend, it’s insanely fun and an experience you’ll never forget. Here are some reasons you should attend:

1. For the music, of course!

If you’re big on punk rock, metalcore, or electronic music, chances are you’ll be able to find plenty of artists on the bill that you’ll enjoy. From the bands we grew up on like Good Charlotte and Yellowcard, to newer ones like Waterparks and With Confidence, there’s something for everybody. If you manage to find a time slot where a group you like isn’t playing, you can look around and check out other groups! It’s a great opportunity to expand your horizons and learn about bands you might not know of or have wanted to pay money to see headline in the past.

2. FREE STUFF!

If you don’t enjoy getting some nice freebies, you’re lying. There are various sponsors and non-profit groups with tents on the festival grounds just looking to give out posters, stickers, and other enjoyable goodies to eager concert goers. Sometimes you even get to play games to win things! It doesn’t get much better than that. Bonus: By means of obtaining these goodies, you'll be learning about and supporting some really cool, helpful organizations.

3. Meet new people!

Are you an outgoing person looking to make some friends with similar music taste? Unable to find friends to attend the show with you and don't want to venture around alone? This could be the place for you. While some people might not be super friendly or interested in conversation, there are plenty of people who are. I mean, if you’re going to be shoulder to shoulder with other sweaty bodies, might as well get to know them a little bit. I've made plenty of friends just by standing in line for shows. Besides, that’s what this scene tries to promote—community!

4. Meet your favorite bands!

Instead of spending money on overpriced VIP packages to meet your favs, Warped allows you to meet some of your idols for free. Some band members will just be walking around and orchestrating their own meet and greets, or there will be designated signings at certain tents. Many of these signings are free, though you’ll have to get there early to obtain a wristband due to popular demand and limited time constraints for the specific group. Some signings require you purchase merchandise or something of the like to get a wristband, but it’s worth it if you really like the artist.

5. Just having a good time with people you already know!

There’s nothing more exciting than a great show with some great people by your side. Going to concerts with my best friends has allowed me to grow closer to them and make some incredible memories. Between the crazy heat, long lines, and overzealous crowds, it sure helps to have people on your side looking out for you. Though we consistently leave dirty, tired, and sunburnt, we’re always thinking about all the fun we’ll have next year when Warped Tour comes back to our town.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
