Why You Should Attend A Music Festival This Summer

As the new year has begun, we are given a fresh start. We can do whatever we want this year, be whoever we want to be, and totally forget about all the painful moments we may have left behind in 2015. If you're anything like me, this time of year means you've already begun planning your summer to-do list.

As we all know the semester usually goes by in the blink of an eye, and then were left with three (seemingly endless) months of fun in the sun. In case, you didn't already know, the Summer season is also known as the festival season.

One of the most magical and exciting times of the year. Music festival tickets usually go on sale ridiculously early in the new year despite the fact that the festivals themselves may seem like they're a lifetime away. Regardless, it is definitely an experience that is worth every last penny.

So don't fall behind this summer and get your festival tickets now! If you aren't already convinced, here are some reasons why you should DEFINITELY attend a music festival this summer:

1. Camping is fun!

While not all music festivals have an overnight camping component, it is always a fun addition to any festival experience. What better way to fully immerse yourself in the festival lifestyle then to camp amongst all your fellow music enthusiasts? Not to mention, you get to snuggle up with all your best friends after a long day of trudging and dancing throughout the festival grounds.

2. Make new friends!

I have yet to go to a music festival where I haven't made at least one friend over the course of my time there. Whether it be just for that day or for life there was a real bond that can't be broken. Everyone is there for the same reason; because they love music!

So even if you have nothing else in common you were both attracted to this festival for the same reason. By just cracking a smile at a fellow festival go-er in passing, you'd be surprised at all the possible conversations that may arise.

3. See your favorite artists live!

Even though we all love to jam out in our rooms and cars to some of our favorite artists, nothing beats seeing them perform in front of your eyes. Live performance is truly a force to be reckoned with. Seeing your favorites switch it up and pump it up all in the moment is completely euphoric.

4. Wear some festival worthy outfits!

For all my fellow fashionista/os out there, festivals are the perfect place to do it up. You can wear pretty much anything you want to a music festival and receive zero judgment. If you're going to Coachella, feel free to rock a bikini and a kimono for the day.

Meanwhile, if you're at Electric Forest some face gems and trippy patterns will get the job done too. Feel free to wear whatever your heart desires because there's no better place to experiment.

5) Try some new eats!

After a long day of dancing, jumping, and walking you're gonna want something super satisfying to eat. Trust me when I say that the festival coordinators know whats up. Between food trucks and stands, there is usually an endless supply of BOMB food everywhere you turn. Ramen burgers, chili cheese fries, and the best mac and cheese I've ever had?! Count me in.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
