We've made it. It's finally Spring Break.
For most college students, these few weeks are Spring Break. A time for us to finally close our notebooks, log out of Canvas or Blackboard, and travel. For some of us, we're going back home, whether that be in a different state or a nearby town. For others, we're going to explore a place we've never been to, or somewhere we cherish in our hearts.
Either way, whatever you're doing this break, use this time to exhale. You're probably saying - But Maddie, I breathe without even thinking about it, so why do I need to consciously think about my breathing now?
Well, kind person, you should use this time to think about your breathing because now you finally have the time to do so. For one week, you do not have to worry about the immediate stresses that school puts on us. You do not have to think about the people back at college. So, what better time to try to recenter yourself after a stressful period of time than right now?
No matter what your major is or what college you go to, everyone has been stressed in one way or another that has been building up to spring break. Not every paper you've written has been fun, and not every test you have taken has been easy.
So I am asking you, from one student to another, what have you done lately that has been for yourself? That has been fun?
This is the time for you to read that book you haven't had time for, to binge watch that show you've been dying to see, hike that mountain that the weather hasn't really allowed you to do, pet your dog, hug those you haven't seen in a while. This is a time for you to be you.
Breathe. Relax.
We've made it. It's finally Spring Break.
