You Are A Big Deal
PEXELS

I feel like most of us go through life just trying to prove that we are worth something to someone. Sometimes we don’t even realize we are doing it. It starts when we are babies. We, very quickly, learned what it looked like when our parents were excited or proud of us. So, in an effort to see that face as much as possible, we started learning to talk and walk and things of the like. Not long after that, we started school, there we are soon taught what good and bad work is and we would strive to be the smartest, or fastest reader. And the list goes on. So why? Why do we feel the need to make others happy or proud or notice us?

It’s because, about the same time that all of these things take place, we also learn what death is. We learn that we will not be here for forever. This is a hard thing to process and honestly most of us do not like to think about it. But it is inevitable, so we figure, since I cannot live forever, I want people to remember me, I want to be important somehow.

Alright, so I am going to stop going on this psychological rampage now. I am going to tell you why you never need to worry again and how you really are important. We see TV stars, athletes, and other random famous people, and just wish we could be as big of a deal as them. But I am here to tell you that you are just as important.

First, let’s think about this scientifically. You are a human. Let me say that again, YOU ARE A HUMAN. If you have ever taken biology or basic anatomy of some kind, you know what the basic components of a functioning body are. But can you imagine that all of that is actually part of you? You are the greatest phenomenon on the face of the earth. The most complex mammal. People desire to study and understand how you work more than any of the 7 wonders of the world. There are millions of jobs that people have worked really hard to obtain that dedicate their whole life to that purpose. I would say that is being pretty important.

The second reason you are an incredibly big deal is because you are a functioning unit of this earth. You have a unique and specific purpose that you might just not know yet. In a company there is the CEO and the janitor. Usually when thinking of this scenario we would rather be the CEO because his job is more glamourous and probably pays more. But, if there was no janitor then the building would fill with trash and the company would have to find someone else to fill that job because without someone doing that, it would fall apart. Basically what I am saying is that you are made perfect with a specific purpose and you are a big deal.

Lastly, if you still do not feel as though you are important, remember this: YOU ARE A HUGE PART OF SOMEONE ELSES LIFE AND THEY CANNOT LIVE WITHOUT YOU. Whether it is your parents, siblings, significant other, and the list goes on, you mean a lot to them and they cannot bare to be without you. You have more impact on their life than any celebrity ever could. And having that much influence is a BIG DEAL.

So, as finals approach and the holidays arrive, just remember that you are amazingly perfected for your role and you are a big deal to everyone you impact.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
