Now, there are a multitude of ways to say mother. In some areas one may say mum, in others they may say mam. Also, one could say mom, ma, mommy, mama and countless other words to describe a mother. Each place contains a special name for one's mother. No matter the name one uses, a mother is a person that is necessary for one's life. Even as one grows older, a mother holds a special place in one's life that can't be replaced.

1. Sometimes you just really need your mom.

Some days are just sad and stressful and all you want is to talk to your mom. Somehow a mother always knows the right thing to say.

2. She's your number one fan.

While at times it can be embarrassing when your mother gets overly excited about that photo you drew (when you have no artistic talent) or brags about that time you won the participation award, you know she's always there supporting you.

3. She understands that you have a life.

Even though your mother wants to be involved in your life, she knows that you are making your own stamp on this Earth. So she lets you make your own mark on the world without being overbearing, but still being there for you.

4. She cares about you.

Although this is a given, it's nice to have a person who cares. In a world with so much going on it's often difficult to feel loved and appreciated and it's nice to have your mother show that she cares.

5. She accepts you for you.

Maybe your mom wanted you to become the next Olympic figure skater when you were younger, but now she has come to terms with the fact that it won't happen. She accepts the path you are on and who you are and wouldn't change anything about you.

6. She taught you how to cook.

Well, this one is more based upon the audience; she at least tried to teach you how to cook. Whether you can actually cook or not depends, that being said.

7. She listens to you.

At those times you just need to vent about life and babble on and on, she actually listens. One of the few people who will still be standing there during your monologues.

8. She helped make you, well you.

Now as hard as it may be to admit it, so many of your morals or values are from your mom. She may have even added to your chocolate obsession and passion for fashion.

9. Where else did you get your good looks from?

While we all hate to admit it, but when we are told we look like our moms we don't always mind it. Besides, these genes have to run in the family.

10. She gives you advice.

When there's no one else to turn to, sometimes your mom may surprise you with some of the best advice.

11. She loves you.

Your mom is always there for you and reminds you that you are loved.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine.
