3 Reasons Why We Shouldn't Play 'Pokémon Go'

All over the world, young kids, adults, and even seniors have joined the trend that has been circulating the most over the last three weeks. They have downloaded the Pokémon Go application, which allows you to join the fun and reality of what it's like to be a Pokémon master. You are able to not only catch Pokémon but also battle other people, evolve Pokémon, and even feed them, just like in the actual series. Is this just an innocent game? Is there something behind the Pokémon trend that we shouldn't follow?

Many people have gone with the demonic factor. Is Pokémon Go a demonic game? Originally, it means "pocket monsters," and the creator invented it as an answer to solve people's problems. This was almost an anti-Christian plot and theme for the game.

Others have gone the violent route. In other words, Pokémon Go promotes violence. It is people grabbing Pokémon so that they can fight and resolve issues through war. The monsters do many types of things to win battles.

Honestly, I prefer to not go either route. This is why I don't play Pokémon Go, and why you shouldn't...

1. It's a trend.

When something becomes a trend, it is difficult to swerve away from it. You almost become drowned in the wave of Pokémon Go. The problem with trends is that people no longer do things because they want to; there is no more originality. There is simply just the media influencing them to choose what they want to play.

2. You're an adult already. You're not a kid anymore.

Do you remember when you were a kid and you loved Pikachu? Or when you caught Pokémon all of the time? Those days are gone. You are not a baby anymore, and it is time to act like an adult. It is not normal for an adult to be playing video games, unless it's to bond with their child. It is time to grow up. This generation, unfortunately, has only been growing with age, but not with character. They are easily swayed by the media, and the media has more control and power over them. As a result, they are enslaved and they don't know that they aren't acting their age.

3. It can get addicting. You will not want to do anything else.

Is it wrong for a teenager to be playing Pokémon Go instead of finding a job? I think it should be. Teenagers with the right parents should be influenced to grow and mature. The parents should assume the responsibility to help them grow. If they are not able to, then it becomes a hazard and an issue. Kids aren't growing up to become young and responsible men and women, but rather to become fantastical Pokémon experts and masters. Will that get you anywhere in life?

Some kids play this thing for hours. It is time to be a wise steward of the little time we've been given. What are we doing with the time we are given? Are we trying to leave a legacy for our children and make wealth? Or are we distracted with the latest fad and making someone else rich?

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
