Why We All Need Live Music In Our Lives

Live music is all you really need.

Why We All Need Live Music In Our Lives
Alexandra Fisher

We have all been to a concert before and know the feeling of live music all too well. I'm sure that music lovers all over the world can agree that live music is something we all need. The feeling you get when you are seeing your favorite artist live is something that you will never forget.

I like to think of live music as somewhat of an escape from reality; I really think that all music is an escape from reality. When you are at a concert, you seem to just forget about everything else that is going on -- you're just living in the moment.

If you have never been to a concert and your favorite band or artist is coming to town, go! Yeah sure, they might come back another five times... but there won't be another time like right now! Every time you go to a concert you get a different experience; I've seen some artists a handful of times, and every time is different from the last. Each time you feel different emotions, and so does the artist!

There are going to be people that tell you that going to a concert is a waste of your money, and that you're paying to just be in the same room as the artist. But there is so much more to a concert than they think. You make friends at these events that could last a lifetime! I have been to a lot of concerts, and I have to say, some of my favorites have been the general admission ones where I made friends with everyone while waiting in line all day. Some of the friendships that I have made at concerts have lasted years, and I am happy to call some of those people my best friends.

I don't think that people realize that a concert is so much more than the music itself. It's about the people that you meet and emotions you feel during the show. There is no music like live music. Live music will always have a place in my heart, there is just a feeling that you get when you know you're going to hear the album that you love live.

For the people who have never been to a concert, I can't begin to tell you the feeling you get when you're hearing the music you listen to regularly live. It's like a complete rush of adrenaline that just takes over your entire body. It's a feeling that I have not gotten doing anything else that I am passionate about.

Sure, some people may be thinking that I am wasting all of my money on hearing live music when I could just listen to it on the radio. However, when I'm older and I look back on the memories that I have from my teenage years, I will know that I spent them doing something that I love and am passionate about.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
