I have always been big on making New Year Resolutions, ever since I was little. But in the past few years, something changed in me. At some point I asked myself: Why wait until the New Year when you can start now and be ahead of the game? That simple question poked and prodded at me for quite a while, and finally, I realized I was right. There is no time to waste. Why not got one step closer to my goal and start now? Waiting until the New Year is just an excuse to do it later.
If it is that important to you and something you are passionate about, you should want to start it right away. Pushing it off a few weeks puts you that amount of weeks behind. Starting it right when you make the promise to yourself will get you one step closer to it, and faster, too.
Most importantly, even if this year wasn’t your year, why not end it on a positive and productive note? Your years should end and begin with nothing but positivity and uplifting memories. Just because you didn’t enjoy what this past year brought to you doesn’t mean you can’t change the way it ends. In other perspectives, you can argue and say that you started your resolution in the last year and that you are still going strong.
Life is about always putting an upbeat spin on it. I say all of our New Year Resolutions should be to spread positivity and we should start now. Let’s end this year how we want next year to begin. Just remember, if you begin and end each year with a highlight, your whole year is going to be one. And that, to me, is something to look forward to.
So this is my goal for those of you reading this:
Get up and start it now. Waiting is not going to get you anywhere. Do what makes you happy, see the places you’ve wished to see, and love the people you were too scared to tell. Get one step closer to where you want to be rather than waiting for the “right time.” Unfortunately, there is no such thing as the right time. Nobody is ever ready for anything, so why wait?
Whether you start in 2 weeks, 1 day, or start now, it is going to be scary. The faster you face your fears, the faster you reach the highest mountains. Life is about learning, change, and experiences. Make the most of them and take advantage of each thing given to you. As Dr. Seuss would say: “Kid, you’ll move mountains.” I am wishing those of you reading this nothing but happiness and motivation, now and in the years to come. Good luck!
