Why The World Needs Sensitive People

People lie, cheat, and steal, but your only "flaw" is your sensitivity.

Why The World Needs Sensitive People

Some people are more sensitive than others, and that's okay. Sensitivity can be one of the most beautiful things about a person, because it creates a more compassionate, empathetic, and caring being; a wonderful gift. Since most people are fairly good at hiding their emotions, it might be hard to understand why someone else appears to be very emotional. Emotional people are often viewed negatively, and are rarely understood. They're oftentimes told that they are overreacting, too emotional, and that they need to learn how to control their emotions. But why are emotions a bad thing nowadays? Emotions are used to build stronger connections with people, but now it seems are though they are something that drives people apart. Instead of shaming people who share their emotions more openly, we should learn to appreciate that quality, and see what we can learn from them.

Contrary to popular belief, being sensitive is a great thing. It means you are able to put yourself in someone else's shoes; something that is very hard for people to do. It means you are more understanding of others when they are feeling overwhelmed or needing a moment to themselves. You may even be the only one that can help that person since you take on their feelings as your own. Know that your friends greatly appreciate you. They view you as the one person that will always be there for them in times of trouble, and not judge them for their emotions.

Being sensitive means you feel more deeply, love harder, and view the world in a way most people don't. In the past, it may have gotten you strange looks or rude remarks, but that doesn't mean that anything is wrong with you. There are people who see the gift you possess as a fantastic one, and one they wish they had. Think about how different your experiences must be compared to other people's. Due to your ability to truly understand emotions, your connections with people are stronger and deeper, and your personality leaves a lasting impression on everyone you meet.

The world needs sensitive people. People who take more time to be kind, show their gratitude, really get to know someone, and stand up for people who may not otherwise be noticed. Sensitive people have the ability to change the world, so embrace what you were given because you were meant to have it. Feel sorry for the people who don't understand you, but continue to show them kindness. They may not know how to empathize, but you can teach them. Remember, there are people who cheat, lie, steal, and have malicious intentions and ulterior motives. If your only flaw is being sensitive, then you're doing just fine.

"Your sensitivity is your essence. You can't be you without it."

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
