FSU students starting or returning to school for the fall semester have about one month left of summer. Although it feels as if the advantages of being relaxed without course work throughout the summer outweigh the advantages being back in school, there are many things to look forward to as the school year begins again.

Moving back to a college environment should be something that students await with enthusiasm instead of dread, so if you need the motivation to elicit excitement for the new school year, here are a couple of reminders.

1. Reuniting with friends.

Going back to college means seeing all of your friends that don't live near you during the summer. If you intend on making up for the lost time, regrouping with pals who have been long distances away from you during the summer adds excitement to the beginning of your semester. Fall semester provides new and returning students the chance to meet or reconnect with fellow individuals who don't come from the same place, contributing to a larger and more diverse group of friends.

2. Game days.

Fall semester is football season, giving weekends a greater purpose while uniting students through events and games. Getting into FSU pride and supporting the Seminoles for the new season adds levels of entertainment and fun to the new school year. Going to pregames and get-togethers before FSU football games provide more ways to socialize and get involved to show your support for the Seminoles.

3. Being back in Tallahassee.

Returning to a college town environment, for those who haven't lived in Tallahassee throughout the entirety of the summer, is one of the most thrilling things to look forward to. The culture in Tallahassee and at FSU is one of high energy levels, which no other city or college town could compare to. Moving back to a lively environment made up of differing individuals is one of the most stimulating reasons every student should look forward to going back to FSU.

4. Change in weather.

Fall semester is a reminder that the hot temperatures defining Florida summers are soon to end. Students going into fall semester only have to endure less than two more months of intense heat before the cooler seasons begin. Walking to class in cool temperatures is something to look forward to during the fall semester.

5. A fresh start in courses.

The new semester signifies the beginning of the courses you signed up to take. Knowing that you have a fresh start, academically, is a relieving feeling that only lasts a couple of weeks, giving you a small window to have some fun without being too anxious. Make sure to take advantage of your fresh start with professors, course work and remember that you hold the ability to stay ahead if you are proactive from the beginning.

We all came to FSU for a reason and the joys of a lazy summer shouldn't change your opinion on going back to school. The new academic year is in your hands and you have the opportunity to make your experience even better than your last one, so remember to be thankful and thrilled for this fresh start.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
