I can already smell the turkey waiting for me on Thanksgiving. It is one of my favorite holidays and I can’t wait for it to be here soon. Here are some of my favorite Thanksgiving traditions.
1. No school!
Not only is Thanksgiving a great holiday, but it is a great excuse to have time off from school! Sure it's only an extra couple days off, but it's better than nothing!
2. Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade!!
This parade has always been my favorite thing to watch with my family on Thanksgiving. I love seeing all the performances, my favorite singers and actors riding on floats, and all the awesome balloons they have!
3. Football duh!
Not everyone likes football, but if you do, and your favorite team is playing on Thanksgiving, then it is pretty exciting. Watching the game with all your family members just increases the excitement.
4. Food!!!
Who doesn’t love Thanksgiving dinner? The turkey, the vegetables, and most importantly, the rolls. The rolls will forever be my favorite part of dinner.
5. The post-dinner nap.
Some may call it a food coma. Either way, you’re tired after eating your turkey. Napping on the couch at your grandparents' house after dinner is an oddly satisfying part of thanksgiving.
6. Family.
If you’re anything like me, you don’t get the chance to see your extended family as often as you’d like. Thanksgiving is the perfect opportunity to see them! We all gather together to discuss how thankful we are for each other and eat a delicious meal. What more could you want?
7. One holiday closer to Christmas!
When Thanksgiving is over, it means it is now socially acceptable to blast Christmas music and start shopping for gifts! Santa is coming!!!
8. Leftovers!
Everybody loves leftover Thanksgiving dinner. The best part is deciding what you'll do with all the leftovers. Will you make turkey sandwiches? Will you make a turkey soup? Either way, you better get on Buzzfeed and start the search for the perfect leftover recipe!
Thanksgiving is a time to be thankful. There is a lot to be thankful for in this world, and these are just a few of the things I am thankful for.
Happy Thanksgiving!!
