Why I Stopped Letting People Treat Me Crappy
prevention

I, throughout my entire life, have always been treated like shit from someone. Maybe not everyone, of course, but from a good amount of people. I have recently turned 23.

Back in the day, I have taken the crap with stride and just say "oh well, people will do what they do and I can take it." I did that for years and years and I accepted that some people will ultimately be shitty. That is the way of life, sure. I mean, not everyone can be nice to people, it may be hard because they are not nice people. Everyone has different things going on in their life and that is fine, who am I to make life worse for them by saying "hey, treat me better."

Turning 23 I have realized that I am no longer going to let people do that. The reason they were getting away with it was because of me. I totally let them get away with that and then they believed that they could do that because they were probably saying "since she isn't saying anything we could totally do it for however long we can." That also means they are taking their frustrations out on me and who are they to do that to me? Who are they to do that to anyone?

Sorry to tell ya, but the game has changed (for me, anyways). I no longer deserve that treatment, and I no longer deserve people verbally abusing me. I am 23 and I tell myself who I am - I don't need you calling me names or telling me how I am not trying enough for you. I don't try for you, I don't know who told you that; but, I try for myself thanks. The only person who should be able to judge me is myself and now that I am of legal age and a grown adult - even my parents cannot really tell me how to live my life. They can make comments, but I don't have to listen to them. I am 23.

I don't understand why people seem to think negativity is the only thing we can spew from our mouths. I refuse to let people treat me like dirt because people think they can. They no longer can and if they get mad at me because I am clapping back, then so be it because at the end of the day I am no longer accepting that treatment from you or anyone else.

And, fuck you if you think you can treat someone terribly and think it's fine. I was never the problem, you were - just took me a few decades to figure that shit out.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
