A lot of the time at school, people would say to me "You actually read for fun? Why?" and I just said simply "Because I enjoy it." Nowadays, I think reading is shown as something boring or nerdy to be interested in, especially as a girl, when there are now alternatives like social media or makeup. But why can't you be interested in it all? I like make up. I like clothes, and I love my Instagram (even though it is a book account!). And although I'm not a guy, I'm sure the same thing happens to them. When did reading become something boring for teenagers?
Reading is an amazing thing. From non-fiction books, you can learn a great deal about anything in the world. I'm personally not a massive fan of non-fiction, but it shows that surely there is a book about something you're interested in. I have quite a few books on mythology, which I love reading.
However, my favorite books are fiction. Mainly young adult and fantasy, although I love pretty much any book. If you liked The Fault in Our Stars movie, why not try the book? If you love Game of Thrones, why not read the books the show is based on? My point is not that everyone needs to love reading, or that you're stupid if you don't like to read - my point is to try it out. You might find something you like! And even if you don't, that doesn't matter. But don't call someone else boring because they'd rather spend their money on books than clothes or going to signings rather than gigs.
There is no wrong way to read a book. If you read a book a day, great. If you manage one book in a year, that's great too. Just enjoy yourself and don't knock something until you try it yourself.
