I had always heard of people talking about how meditation had changed their life. Still, I was skeptical. I heard that you either loved it or you hated it and I assumed I would hate it. I was never one to be able to sit in one place for too long. However, meditation changed my life.
It doesn't take long for it to change your life either. After one week I already felt my mind shifting. Whether you meditate for five minutes or two hours, I promise you will feel the difference.
Being alone with your thoughts is a special kind of salvation. Being able to shut the world out is a beautiful thing that is often taken for granted. Once your eyes close it's simply you time. No expectations, no right or wrong, just you. Regardless of how good or bad your day is going, there is one constant. Meditation saves you from yourself. It gives you confidence and purpose. It helps you become who you are meant to be without anxiety.
When you open your eyes you become a calmer more composed you and that last with you all day. But not only does it benefit you, it benefits the people around you too. When you are taking care of your mental health you are taking care of everyone you come in contact with.
So I challenge you to try meditation. Whether you have mental health issues or not, it doesn't matter. Every single person can benefit from trying meditation. I use the app Headspace which gives you a free trial. Yes, I said FREE. There is absolutely no harm in trying it but there are a million benefits. Today I challenge you to become a healthier and happier version of yourself. I promise you won't regret it.
