Saturday January 21st men and women in cities across the world gathered to march for women's rights. I, along with millions of others, marched to make the world a better place for women. Although there was backlash, this was extremely important and it is important to understand why people marched not. Here is why I marched.
I marched for equality. I march because I believe we are all equal. No matter what ethnicity, sexuality, or gender we are. I believe that we all deserve to be treated as equals all across the world. I march so I can unite with other men and women who want the equality everyone around us deserves.
I marched for my future daughter. I want my future daughter to grow up in a world with equality. I want her to be able to grow up and live her life to her fullest potential. She should have just as many opportunities as her future brother, coworker, or husband has. When my future daughter grows up, I will be able to tell her I stood up for what I believed in and I worked to get her a better future. She will know my generation did not stay silent.
I marched because I stand with Planned Parenthood. I stand with PP because they do so much for women. They offer many services that help with women’s health including birth control and breast exams. The defunding of Planned Parenthood can cause women everywhere to lose these services and that puts them at risk. I marched to show I support them and I will fight for their cause.
I marched for those who cannot. Across the world, women have not come as far as women have in the United States. Some countries women still have zero power. I marched to support them and to let them know just because they cannot fight for themselves, they have someone in their corner.
I marched for women in combat zones. I marched for women ,who fight for our country's freedom, that are told they are a distraction in combat zones. I fight against people who, like shown below, believe that women in the armed forces should not be there because of their gender.
I am a feminist. The Women's March was not about hating men or hating Trump, it was standing up against injustice and for women's rights all around the world. Women from Alaska to Rome all gathered together to support each other and to show the world that you cannot silence the women of the world. I am a PROUD feminist and I am truly honored I was able to march along with women and men of all ages to fight against the wrongs and try to make some rights.
