Some people may say that The Jersey Shore isn't nearly as great as Florida or California or the Caribbean islands. Well, maybe that's true, but I think there are so many aspects of New Jersey Beaches that you just can't get anywhere else.
You can drive for over 100 miles on Parkway South and stumble upon hundreds of different beaches and small shore towns. Whenever I go to the beach, I have so many options to choose from.
It becomes a game of deciding which beach I should go to on which day. Although I do have my favorites like, Point Pleasant (because I simply love Jenkinson's Boardwalk), I enjoy visiting beaches and places that I've never been to before.
I find that there's always something to do for everyone. There are places that are family orientated as well as places for those in their 20's.
The Jersey Shore experience (and I'm not talking about that reality TV show) is more than just the beach and the ocean. It's a lifestyle and it's something that almost all New Jerseys residents have experienced at least once.
I don't know any New Jerseyan that's never been to The Jersey Shore. In fact, most people go every summer. Some might take beach day trips, some might vacation to LBI for a week, and other people who own a shore house will spend a whole summer down the shore.
There's just something about it that makes it feel like home. Maybe it's because it is a well-known part of the state I've lived in all my life or maybe it's because I spent my Prom Weekend at a motel in Wildwood or maybe it's because my parents first met in Belmar. Whatever it is, all I know is that my favorite part of the summer is going down the shore with family and friends.
I go so often that I have it down to a tee. I have an exact routine.
I wake up early in the morning, then go to my favorite bagel shop in town to grab a chicken salad bagel for lunch. I pack the car with towels, beach chairs, sunscreen, and so much more and then I take off for the shore. The car ride down consists of country music and throwback tunes. Once I finally arrive on the beach, I put my sunglasses on, grab a good book, and soak in the sun for at least four hours. Then I walk along the boardwalk to eat dinner and make my way back to the beach to watch the sunset. As I drive home, I smile and think about the day that I had at the beach and I can't wait to go back again.
