Why I love living in Floral Park

I have lived in this small town since I was three years old. I do not really remember moving in my house, I only know what I have seen in pictures from my younger days, the way my house used to look before we changed it, it used to be yellow and it had a horrible pineapple lamp in the dining room. I live a few blocks away from the elementary school where I played soccer on the fields for years, played on the playground, participated in olympic day and picnics for school. I was lucky enough to stay with the same people throughout elementary and high school. It is where I found my best friend of 18 years give or take a day. We stuck together from the day we met in first grade and have been inseparable ever since. High school was a rollercoaster ride of emotions and hardships, I lost people along the way but found even better ones too. The back field where I played sports and participated in gym class are some of my favorite memories, the space itself may have changed but the memories remain. I spent the entirety of my childhood and now adulthood at the local pool where I learned how to swim and competed in swim team which always ended with a trip to the local Wendy’s. It is where I took swimming lessons with my friends and laughed the entire way through. We were the kids that would swim in the rain making the lifeguards go up on the stand just for us. We lived a simple and fun life. We played sports at the park until we were tired. The local sweetshop and pizzeria were our hangout spots. As we got older, it changed when we could drive but any place we went was pretty close to our own houses which is just one of the many reasons why I love living here. This town has made me into the person that I am today. I cannot imagine growing up any place else. Floral Park is my home and no matter where I end up it always will be.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
