If you're from Long Island or have ever been there, you know how important diners are to everyday life. People can stop by in the morning for a cup of coffee and a baconeggandcheese (yes, it's pronounced as one word), for a dinner with friends, or even at 3 a.m. when everything else is closed. Most people from Long Island would agree that some of their favorite memories were made at the diner.

1. They're open 24/7.

You know it was a successful night out when it ends at the diner.

2. You'll never go too far without finding one.

You can't go more than a mile or two in any direction without seeing a diner.

3. They have all types of food.

If your group of friends is undecided as to what to eat, diners offer many options ranging from breakfast, sandwiches, pasta, gyros, ice cream floats, salads, and plenty more.

4. Their prices are relatively cheap.

Considering how big the portions are, the prices are much more affordable compared to most restaurants.

5. Fast service.

Even when it's a full house, you'll never be waiting more than ten to twenty minutes for your order.

6. You always see someone you know.

*DISCLAIMER: this can also be a bad thing if you don't like the person*

7. You know all the workers.

It's always a great feeling when you walk into a diner and your usual waiter is there to greet you and already knows what you typically order. Nothing beats the homey atmosphere of a diner.

8. There's always a cute old couple sitting nearby.

Because diners would be boring otherwise, right?

9. There are jukeboxes in each booth.

No better way to give the place a low-key retro feeling.

10. The pie!

Pie is one of the most popular items at diners because of each venue's unique taste and presentation.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
