Why I Like "Back To School" Season

Because when you think about it, school really isn't all that bad.

Why I Like "Back To School" Season
John Bhatti

Whether were happy about it or not, it's back to school season. School has either already started or it is starting very soon. Although most people are not excited about school beginning I honestly am. I used to hate it when I was younger; from elementary to sophomore year of high school I hated back to school season. But towards the end of my high school career I started to enjoy back to school season. I liked getting new school clothes and planning outfits out, and I also loved the idea of a fresh start and a new beginning. I always felt motivated when the school year was beginning to push myself to work harder and do better than I did the previous year. I always feel inspired when the school year begins again too work harder and accomplish all my goals.

For me, when the school year starts, I refocus and begin working on achieving all my goals. I love the chance to do so whether those goals are doing very well in school or trying to be healthier and more fit. A new school year is a chance to reinvent yourself, whether it's reinventing the way you dress and your personal style. Or it could be reinventing the way you learn and study.

Every year before the school year starts I promise myself that I will do even better this semester. I always make sure to take better notes and try to find new ways to study. Over the years, I have found ways to make school easier and make life during the semester goes by as smooth as possible. One of the things I always do is make sure that I have all my outfits ready for the school week, that way I'm not scrambling in the morning to get ready. I get all five outfits ready for the week. Another thing I do is make sure I have all my stuff ready for the next day, the night before. My books, folders and water bottle all are ready in my book bag the night before.

I also love the fall which is the season that back to school time is associated with. I love fall clothing and hot chocolate, and my birthday is during the fall, so those are just more reasons why I like back to school season. I honestly don't dislike school. I love getting up every day and learning something new and seeing my friends and acquaintances.

I'm not going to lie, there are those days were I feel completely exhausted with school and work and life in general, but then I remember how lucky I am to have the opportunities I have and school to me is a blessing. I feel lucky every day that I am able to work towards my dreams and how lucky I am to live the life I am living. When I was younger I didn't like school, I would go and do well but I didn't really appreciate it the way I have the last few years. Without school and an education I wouldn't have the opportunities I have. Since I was a little kid, my dream has been to be a lawyer and without school it wouldn't be possible. School and an education are allowing me to live my dreams. It has also allowed me to have met the most amazing people and friends. If it were not for school, I wouldn't have the friends I have today. I made my closest friends in high school and college. I like school because it gives me a reason to get up every day and gives me something to do. School and my education give me a purpose everyday and help me achieve everything I want to do in life.

I think the hardest thing about going away to college is figuring out how to become an adult. Leaving a household where your parents took care of literally everything (thanks, Mom!) and suddenly becoming your own boss is overwhelming. I feel like I'm doing a pretty good job of being a grown-up, but once in awhile I do something that really makes me feel like I'm #adulting. Twenty-somethings know what I'm talking about.

I went to a small high school, like 120-people-in-my-graduating-class small. It definitely had some good and some bad, and if you also went to a small high school, I’m sure you’ll relate to the things that I went through.

1. If something happens, everyone knows about it

Who hooked up with whom at the party? Yeah, heard about that an hour after it happened. You failed a test? Sorry, saw on Twitter last period. Facebook fight or, God forbid, real fight? It was on half the class’ Snapchat story half an hour ago. No matter what you do, someone will know about it.

Chandler Bing

I'm assuming that we've all heard of the hit 90's TV series, Friends, right? Who hasn't? Admittedly, I had pretty low expectations when I first started binge watching the show on Netflix, but I quickly became addicted.

Without a doubt, Chandler Bing is the most relatable character, and there isn't an episode where I don't find myself thinking, Yup, Iam definitely the Chandler of my friend group.

Working with the public can be a job, in and of itself. Some people are just plain rude for no reason. But regardless of how your day is going, always having to be in the best of moods, or at least act like it... right?

1. When a customer wants to return a product, hands you the receipt, where is printed "ALL SALES ARE FINAL" in all caps.

2. Just because you might be having a bad day, and you're in a crappy mood, doesn't make it okay for you to yell at me or be rude to me. I'm a person with feelings, just like you.

3. People refusing to be put on hold when a customer is standing right in front of you. Oh, how I wish I could just hang up on you!
