"Honeymoon," Lana Del Rey's fourth album, came out last week and it is everything. Lana's always had that "cool girl" vibe and you can tell she's poetic and very in touch with herself and her surroundings. Compared to her other albums, "Honeymoon" is definitely a "Netflix and chill" album. Her songs are slow--yet cool and totally attractive. Let me break down a few of her new songs for you.
1. "Honeymoon" - This song is beautiful and moving. The first line, "We both know, that it's not fashionable to love me," sets the tone for the whole song. We've all been there--the person you want to be with is out your league or the timing is wrong. But in the end, you still love them and want to be with them despite the reasons why you shouldn't.
2. "Music to Watch Boys To" - My personal favorite. The beat and background vocals are amazing. It's the kind of song you want to vibe to. Lana is telling boys that she's the Queen and she'll play them just as hard-- "Nothing gold can stay / Like love or lemonade / Or sun or summer days / It's all a game to me anyway."
3. "Terrence Loves You" - This soft ballad gives me the feels. Lana sings about a lover she lost and can't seem to get over. "But I lost myself when I lost you / But I still got jazz when I've got those blues / And I lost myself when I lost you / And I still get trashed, darling, when I hear your tunes," captures the emotion perfectly. Listen to when sad.
4. "High By The Beach" - Another one of my favorites from the album. It's like the ultimate FU
song. Lana sings, "All I wanna do is get high by the beach," because she is sick of the paparazzi creating stories about her and not leaving her alone. You go, Lana!
5. "Freak" - Another cool beat. Lana's vocals are low, creating a sultry vibe in this song. Another love song, but with a different feel. She wants to be with this guy no matter what: "Loving me is all you need to feel / Like I do / We could slow dance to rock music / Kiss while we do it / Talk till we both turn blue."
6. "The Blackest Day" - Lana's in a predicament where she's with a boy, but she is still in love with someone else. She stays with him because she is in control of the relationship: "Cause there's nothing for me to think about / Now that he's gone, I can't feel nothing." This song has a really cool sound to it and Lana's voice is beautiful and haunting.
There are more amazing songs with the same beautiful voice us Lana fans know and love. "Honeymoon" will be on repeat for the next few months.
