Iowa — when you think of it (if you don't hail from this great state, of course), you automatically think two things — rednecks and corn.
And sure, we may have a few of those, but what state doesn't? Amiright? The fall in Iowa is unlike fall in most states, so without further adieu, here are my top five reasons why Iowa is 100 percent worth visiting this October.
1. The Scenery
Iowa is the picture of perfection for any fall lover. The trees and scenery are sure to get you into the fall spirit no matter who you are or where you come from... even if this includes showcasing the corn fields.
2. Speaking of corn... haunted corn mazes.
There's no better way to get in the Halloween mood than to go through a haunted corn maze. Iowa is home to some of the scariest (and best!) corn mazes in the country. No worries, the beautiful scenery makes up for just how terrifying these places can be.
3. Pumpkin spice lattes, anyone?
Sure, you can get these just about anywhere come fall, but the weather in Iowa combined with some of the best coffee shops around (I'm looking at you, 392 Caffe in Clinton!) makes for a perfect PSL moment - and you don't have to be basic to enjoy it.
4) Haunted corn mazes not your thing? Perhaps a haunted house.
The haunted houses in Iowa are hard to upstage, as well. With haunted houses happening in just about every community across the beautiful state, they're hard to miss and even harder to pass up.
5) True sweater weather
Ah, sweater weather. We all likely dream of it during fall, but when you're in the South in 75-degree weather all fall long (hey, not complaining), you do tend to miss the leaves falling and the true fall weather. Iowa has just that and then some.
