With all the heartbreak and loss that's been going on the past week or so it's hard to stay positive. Many joke that the end of the world is upon us and maybe it is. Or maybe it's just everyone avoiding the fact that our earth is heating up at an alarming rate?
Anyway, I'll leave that for you to decide. But the one positive thing that's happened is the outpour of love us Houstonians have seen for our city. Not only from the common citizen but from celebrities worldwide. It's amazing how much compassion can come from such a devastating time. Compassion hasn't just been evident in the form of money either but in the acts of kindness such as neighbor rescuing neighbor and volunteers from all over coming to help the city rebuild.
Here are some acts of kindness witnessed around Houston during these trying times to make your day a bit brighter:
Sandra Bullock, Tyler Perry, and Leonardo Dicaprio's nonprofit foundation all gave $1 million each

While the storm has finally passed, it has left a world of damage in its wake. My city will rebuild because Houstonians are strong and compassionate and above all, resilient. It truly means the world to us that people from all over have outstretched a helping hand. We thank you and we want you to know we will be okay.
