5 Reasons I'm Still A Kid At Heart

I'm a seven-year-old stuck in a 23-year-old's body

5 Reasons I'm Still A Kid At Heart

Although I’m 23 years old, I’m beginning to realize that I’m more easily entertained than most toddlers. It’s so much easier to see the joy in life’s simple things rather than expecting major things to happen to make me happy, and I think everyone should take my advice and enjoy the following things:

The Zoo

I am one of the laziest people I know, but I will walk all over kingdom come (if “kingdom come” is Cleveland or Pittsburgh) to see exotic animals and have the chance to interact with them. Nothing reminds me of how small my world is than seeing animals from all over the world living in one place, and it reminds me that there are many horizons of my own that need expanded. Plus, the Cleveland Zoo has a new baby snow leopard and she’s perfect, and it’s not every day that you get to watch a baby leopard cub climbing all over its mommy.

Science Museums

You know when you’re in middle school and your school takes you on a field trip to the museum and you’re bored and just want to leave? It is not like that when you’re in your mid-twenties. Science is so cool, and experiments are way more interesting when someone isn’t forcing you to participate in them. I will gladly stand in line with kids less than half my age to make bubbles the size of my body and I have no shame.

The Park

Nothing relaxes me more than sitting on a swing-set and swinging all my problems away. There’s something so calming about the mindless action of pumping your legs to make yourself go higher that can’t be matched.

Themed Birthday Parties

There are fun decorations. There are presents. There is food. There is cake. There are sometimes party favors. What else is better than little kids themed birthday parties? I’d much rather stuff my face with some cake than go to the club.

Nap time

I will forever be an advocate of nap time. Tired? Take a nap. Grumpy? Take a nap. Bored? Take a nap. They’re refreshing and there’s nothing more comforting than your own bed. I get really irritable if I’m tired, so I will always hit the hay when I need to, at any given time, just like little kids.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
