The school year is busy with exams, papers, and clubs. My summer is currently keeping me busy with multiple jobs. And I still have to write my article every week. Sometimes in order to keep my love of writing alive, I have to remember what it means to me. Why do I write?
I write because it's the one thing I do all week that gives me absolute freedom. At my retail jobs, I have to do the same tasks over and over again. I don't have a say in what I do.
I write because it allows me to recharge my batteries. I appreciate the learning curve that comes from dealing with people at work... but I don't always want to deal with people.
I write because it's a way that others can get to know me better. In person, I'm not always good at explaining how something makes me feel, but I do love people, and I want them to know me better.
I write because it's a way to have an impact on others. These days, we're always online. Why not spread love instead of hate?
I write because it's a great resume builder. I'd love to be a Content Strategist or editor someday.
I write because it's a way to find other like-minded people. I'm a believer that when people with a common interest come together, the results are magic. From my experience thus far with interacting with other members of my Odyssey community, writers tend to speak the same language. They cheer each other on when other members of their community write articles that end up trending. They applaud each other for having the courage to write articles on personal issues that are hard to share. Having one thing in common makes so much difference.
I write to get to know myself better. It's weird how you sometimes can't tell what's most important to you until you start writing about it.
I write because I've always been good at writing. It reminds me of being in elementary school and never failing to write a great paper.
I write because I love writing. Why? For all the reasons above.
