Why I Love Weddings

It's officially wedding season and I'm loving it. Very recently I attended my cousin's wedding, and it was the best one I've ever been to! It got me thinking about just how awesome weddings are and how it baffles me that some people hate weddings. I assume these are the same people that hate puppies and fun. So, in both defense and admiration of "The Big Day," I've compiled a list of why I love weddings.

1. Dressing Up

Who doesn't love getting all gussied up every now and again for an event? You can dress glamorous if the wedding calls for it, or throw on a pair of cowgirl boots and a sundress. Just make sure you don't wear white, that's a major wedding fashion faux pas if you're not the bride.

2. The Wedding Party

It's so cute to see the flower girl(s) toss petals down, the ring bear stumble down the aisle, the groom walk in his mother, and it's fun to guess if any of the bridesmaids and groomsmen are into each other. Aw, love.

3. The Bride Reveal

She's always the most radiant, beautiful thing you've ever seen. Her hair is perfect, her makeup is flawless, her dress looks as though it was handmade for her. You might even shed tears if you know her personally.

4. The Vows and Kiss

Both traditional vows and personally made vows are beautiful and romantic. The way the bride and groom say the words to each other and promise each other forever is so sweet; and the look in their eyes? Cue the tissues. Then to top it all off, they share a sweet kiss. AAAAWWWW!

5. Free Food

And sometimes alcohol! Come on, who doesn't look forward to the free food and delicious cake? Food is often a motivator to come to any event.

6. Dancing

Assuming there's an awesome DJ and the guests/wedding party like to dance, this is possibly my favorite part of the wedding! It's just so much fun to dance the night away with a room full of happy people, celebrating love, life and the promise of a good future. Not to mention the daddy-daughter dance is one of the sweetest things you will ever see!

7. Decorations

I obsess over wedding themes and color patterns! I love to marvel at all the unique details that went into making the big day look amazing; from the floral arrangements to the guestbook and table settings to cute picture displays.

8. Games/Traditions

I take the bouquet toss very seriously, and am still kicking myself for not catching it. However, I'm reviewing my strategy so I'll be ready for the next wedding I attend. I also love the shoe game that the bride and groom play. It's pretty hilarious to see the answers the newlyweds come up with. DJs who get the guests involved in dancing games to break the ice are also awesome!

So as you can see, weddings are the best and getting to go to one is a joy. Why wouldn't you want to spend a few blissful hours celebrating love and happiness, all accompanied by a beautiful atmosphere, free food, and dancing?!

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
