Christmas is without a doubt my favorite time of the year, right next to my birthday that is. Just kidding just kidding.
My sister is really the Christmas person in our family, but I’m right there with her. She is the type of person once Halloween is over, Thanksgiving is just another holiday she has to wait to pass.
The best thing is watching 25 Days of Christmas with my family when I get home for Christmas Break. Decorating the Christmas tree and baking the most amazing baked goods for everyone comes in at a close second. There are so many reasons why I love Christmas as much as I do and its not because of the gifts.
Even though its not so cold in the South at this time of year, I still feel the Christmas cheer that this season brings. If we get the rare chance that it starts to snow, the sky is full of small little flakes flowing down makes everything just feel more magical and joyous. Just being able to spend time with my family and enjoy this time of year makes it’s the best time of the year. All of the different displays we see at the mall and all of the Christmas tree farm we can visit is just the cherry on top
Christmas is also the best because my sister and I both come home and she has no choice but spend time with me. Since I am away at college and she is finishing up her senior year, I rarely get to spend time with her even though we get on each other’s nerves. I also get to see the rest of my family which is kinda hard to do. My cousins, my sisters and I never fail to have a good time together. Whats better than spending time with the people you love most? Getting to spend an absurd amount of time with my cousins playing playing the best board games ever is the best feeling for the most wonderful time of the year.
Finally, I love Christmas because it allows my mom, sister and I the opportunity to bake just about anything you can think of. Since my sister is the Christmas extreme, we watch a concerning amount of Christmas movies this whole season. The smell of cookies filling the house and a Christmas movie playing in the background never fails to make us smile. Every year we do the same thing and my dad does his usual of staying away from the kitchen so we don't ask him for his help.
I don't know how, but there are people that just don't feel the same about Christmas as I do. Yes I believe they are crazy. Me and my family are the Buddy the Elf of Christmas. There are no worries, some responsibilities and being surrounded by joy and love. How could people not love this holiday?
