Netflix will be releasing a new Godzilla anime in 2021 called Godzilla Singular Point. They released a teaser trailer for the anime two days ago and I will say that it is amazing.
In this trailer, you see a sneak peek of a variety of Godzilla's rogues gallery and notable characters. These include Rodan, Anguirus, Gabera, Jet Jaguar, and possibly Titanosaurus. What is really cool about this selection of characters, is that aside from Rodan, the other characters are fairly unknown and under the radar. Each only really being spotlighted in a movie or two. So it is really refreshing to see these specific characters be highlighted more prominently, even if it is a show instead of a movie.

I think the design for Godzilla in the little footage we are shown looks really good. I feel like it takes a lot of inspiration from the Godzilla shown in Godzilla 2000 during the Millenium series. I feel like the head shape is really reminiscent of the Millenium Series Godzilla with the way the teeth are designed to be long and jaggy. Also, the promo image and footage implies that this Godzilla will be somewhat hunched over, which is similar to that of Godzilla 2000. I will say that this Godzilla appears to be noticeably more buff compared to Godzilla 2000.

We also got a brief glimpse of what we can assume to be our two main protagonists. They appear to be both highschoolers or at the very least, young adults. There is no indication of what role they will play in the series and what connection they will have to Godzilla and the other kaiju. Personally, I think the heroine might have a run-in with the famed Kaiju which would prompt a connection between the two and possibly a friendship and understanding. Something akin to the relationship between King Kong and Ann in the 2005 King Kong movie by Peter Jackson. Again, of course, this is merely speculation. Maybe they are just classmates who happened to be witnesses to Godzilla and the other kaiju's rampages.
In conclusion, I am really excited for this show to come out and I think kaiju and anime fans alike should be too. This could provide a fresh new take on the Godzilla mythos and possibly take us to areas of the Lizard's history that we have not even thought about yet. Fans can only be hopeful for a series such as this.
